Con News

I'm a sleepy little boy but I thought I would get some Robert Jordan news out on the web before I fall asleep. So far from the panel I was in it seems Jordan plans to finish his Wheel of Time series with 12 even if he has to go to 1700 pages on the last one. Also he plans to start another book and he says he will try to keep it to under two trilogies. Happy writing all. Chun out.

Ha! I'll believe it when I see it. I should read those WoT books sitting on my shelf (through 10 - I need to reread those first 8 so I can read 9 and 10 and remember what's going on). Maybe I should just wait until he publishes 11 and 12. As I said, though, I'll believe the end when I see it.

I hate to admit it, but I've never read any of his books. I'm a huge MZB fan, do you think I'd like his stuff?

AND . . .
Did you get into either the SERENITY or BSG panels?

Say hello to California for me!

I got into both and they were both awsome. California says it misses you Diana.

The BSG cast seemed to be having a great time up there. We learned from Ron that we will be seeing the Pegasus (female captain Clark, someone not on the panel said was going to happen) this season. Grace Park (Boomer) seemed to really enjoy the spotlight, she was smiling the whole time. Mary Mcdonnel seemed to be a true child of the 70's and when she posed to pictures she gave us the Nixon double peace sign. James Callis talked about sex throughout the entire panel so we know where his mind is. Everyone praised him for giving Gaius a new depth that was never present in the orginal series. Tricia Helfer and Edward James Olos weren't there but I just needed to see Starbuck so I didn't mind. Bamber (Apollo) talks with a British accent, who knew? He pulls off the American accent so well. Katee Sackoff came in late by the way, but isn't that Starbucks character anyways? Her viper had broken down.

As for Serenity. Saw a new clip of River kicking some major butt. Joss said that the movie plot was what he had planned to do for the show's storyarch for the first three seasons (he wanted to do a six hour movie).
Nathon Fillon was really having a fun time while he was up there. You could see that the cast had grown very comfortable with each other and liked to goof around a lot. The girls were all very shy and didn't say much (what can you say when Nathon is doing silly stuff next to you while you try to answer an honest question. Here's something funny, when Joss was introducing the cast he forgot to bring out Jewel "Kaylee" Staite! Poor Joss got on his knees to apologize when the error was realized, but the girls all gave him shit while he talked. By the way, Jewel had the cutest pouty face when she finally entered the stage. Adam Baldwin was very grateful to the fans and almost got teary eyed when he told the fans how they had saved the show so that they could get to the point they were at.
Finally one more Nathan thing. He gave Joss his audition for Wonderwoman by doing the I am Diana, now I am wonderwoman spin. He got it right on the money too (kinda spooky). More on the con on my blog when I have the time to write it. Chun out.

As for the WoT. You might like it. Jordan has some quirks that drive me up a wall once in a while. What you might want to do is go to B&N or the library and read the first chapter to see if it pulls you in. If it does, then you can buy the first book, if it doesn't, then you haven't wasted the money to buy it. :) Normally, I would say yes right away to people that read fantasy, but being in the WPF program, our tastes are honed much more, so it will depend. :)

Chun: I am jealous of you about Serenity! The day it comes out I will be on a plane back from new Orleans...so my hubbie and I have to decide if we want to pay Wisconsin's horrible nighttime movie prices ($8.50 a person - bleh).

Go ahead and pay the 8.50 . I think it'll be worth it.
