New Book Deals and Releases for Seton Hill Writers - September 2010

Krista Russell sold A Following Sea, a middle-grade historical novel, to Peachtree Publishers. It is scheduled for publication in 2012.

Adina Senft signed a three-book deal with Hachette to write Amish women's fiction.

Sabrina Benulis sold her Archon series to Eos in a three-book deal. The first book will be published in Fall 2011.

The movie for Patrick Picciarelli's The Prince of Arthur Avenue has wrapped and is in editing. He will have a short story, The Friendly Island, in the International Association of Crime Writers annual anthology to be published next year.

Michael A. Arnzen and Gary Braunbeck both have stories in Legends of the Mountain State IV anthology.

Penny Dawn's short story "Last Good Grace" will appear in Issue #20 "The Fifth Column" of Six Brick Press' Six Little Things.

The first 200 words of Christopher Paul Carey's story "A Kick in the Side" is up at Meteor House Press. The story is part of The Worlds of Philip Jose Farmer 1: Protean Dimensions.

Here is April's news from Seton Hill Writers:

#1: KJ Howe's novel Breathless is a RWA 2010 Golden Heart Finalist in Contemporary Series Romance: Suspense/Adventure.

#2: Inside Out, Maria V. Snyder's first book in a new SF series, is on shelves

#3: Heidi Ruby Miller was interviewed by Adele Cosgrove-Bray at Hub Pages.

#4: The Brain Plague steampunk trilogy by Steven Piziks will be released by Ace Books beginning in September 2010.

#5: Three Seton Hill Writers made it as finalists in The 2010 Sandy Contest at Crested Butte Writer's Conference: Emilie Bishop's thesis novel in the Children's/YA category; KL Grady's novel in the SF/Fantasy category; and Krista Russell's novel in the Children's/YA category.

#6: Lucy A. Snyder received a Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in POETRY for her collection Chimeric Machines through Creative Guy Publishing.

#7: Laurie Alice Eakes is guest blogging at The Hartline Literary Agency blog - From the Heart. Laurie is represented by Tamela Hancock Murray at Hartline Literary.

#1: Fire Study, the third novel by Maria V. Snyder made the New York Times Best Sellers List for trade paperbacks.

#2: James Morrow's latest novel is out. He is currently touring with The Philosopher's Apprentice.

#3: Toby Buckell's second novel Ragamuffin is in the Fantasybookspot March Madness Tournament. Voting ends March 15 for Round 2.

#4: Monica Spence has a new website at http://monicaspence.web.officelive.com/default.aspx.

#5: Kimberley A. Opatka-Metzgar has a new project called Emma's Wetlands Adventures.

#1: Mary SanGiovanni's debut novel The Hollower, which was also her Master's thesis for Seton Hill University's Writing Popular Fiction Program, comes out this week.

Seton Hill Writers Update

#1: Kaye Dacus at Write Place, Write Time interviews Maria V. Snyder about how she ended each book in her Study series.

#2: E. A. Whitt has a new blog series called NAME THAT NOVEL. Every Monday she posts the opening of a book, every Friday a last line (not from the same book), and readers can guess the novel in which they are found.

#3: Nalo Hopkinson will be one of the distinguished faculty teaching at the University of Toronto Summer Writing School - July 9-13, 2007.
